Dr. Bhavani Maheswaran, DDS, is a Canadian-trained and U.S.-licensed general dentist with a diverse clinical background and commitment to community health. She earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Madras Medical College in Tamil Nadu, India, and pursued further education in Ontario before practicing as a Registered Dental Hygienist..
Driven by a passion for comprehensive patient care, Dr. Maheswaran moved to New York to further her education. She completed a post graduate residency in Comprehensive Dentistry focused on Advanced Clinical Dentistry at New York University (NYU) in 2022, followed by a postgraduate residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) at NYU Langone Hospitals in Brooklyn and the U.S. Virgin Islands, which she completed in 2024. She also completed a specialized oral oncology clerkship at the University of Florida in Gainesville, focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of oral cancers.
A firm believer in lifelong learning, Dr. Maheswaran is an active member of both the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry. She regularly pursues continuing education to stay at the forefront of advancements in dentistry.
Community service is an integral part of Dr. Maheswaran’s personal and professional life. She is committed to providing care to underserved populations and has volunteered her time and expertise to the Ekwangjenanag First Nations Reserve in Hagersville, Ontario, offering pro bono dental services.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Dr. Maheswaran enjoys flying small aircraft, traveling, staying active through fitness, and spending quality time with her daughter, Sharmithaa, and her beloved cat, Wicca.

I saw Dr. Bhavani for a tooth extraction on 3/2/26, and she did a really great job. No pain! She was really gentle and calming and professional. She told me I was doing a good job, but it was her! Cynthia was also helping her and she was wonderful as well. If you are looking for a new dentist I highly recommend Dr. Bhavani!
Dr Bhavani is the first dentist in five years to successfully correct problems with the 2 bridges in the front of my mouth. This is an enormous relief and I will forever be grateful to her for her kindness, willingness to listen and ability to understand my problems, and her unique skill that no other dentist has even come close to in 5 years of embarrassment that I have endured with my front teeth falling out and my inability to eat anything but soft food in public places. Cynthia, who works closely with Dr Bhavani, has been a dream. Her calm manner and genuine concern for my distress is, in my experience, a rare commodity. They have both been a gift in my life.
