Since June of 2004, Dr. Eric Shapiro, an endodontic specialist and member of Western Mass Endodontics’ skilled dental team, has been providing unparalleled endodontic care to greater central MA area. Dr. Shapiro actively pursues advancements in his field and is committed to contributing to the Western Mass Endodontics mission of remaining a premier, state-of-the-art endodontics facility. In his time away from the practice, Dr. Shapiro enjoys physical activity and the great outdoors.
After obtaining his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of New York at Buffalo, Dr. Shapiro enrolled in the U.S. Navy where he completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry while serving his country. Dr. Shapiro went on to earn his certificate in endodontics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2004. Continuing education courses permit Dr. Shapiro the ability to remain current in the evolving world of endodontics.
Because of his focus on the advancement of the industry and his dedication to providing comprehensive, quality endodontic care to his patients, Dr. Shapiro is skilled in providing a variety of surgical and nonsurgical procedures and treatments to patients of Western Mass Endodontics. Among his specialties, Dr. Shapiro is exceptionally skilled at endodontic retreatment, a meticulous procedure which addresses dental pain caused by the infection of a tooth that has been treated before, unsuccessfully.

I was very impressed by the urgency & effective service I experienced with Dr.Shapiro and the team. I needed a root canal done. I called his office first thing they opened they told me they will call me back. In less than 5 minutes I got a call to come in. When I got there I did not wait for long and was placed in the room to start the root canal. Through the whole procedure Dr.Shapiro kept making sure I was okay and reassuring me everything was going good.Later on in the day I received a message checking in on how I was doing. I truly appreciate the care I received from him and his team!
Giving a 5 based on the care I received- staff were pleasant, helpful and reassuring. Needed a root canal as I had a developing infection and was referred by my dentist as an emergency. Dr. Shapiro was quick and efficient, explained what he was doing, and made me feel comfortable as I was very nervous about having it done.I do however, wish I could give 1 star for the fact that this is the only place you can get the service you need but they most likely won’t take your insurance and you’ll end up paying what you take home in one biweekly paycheck for whatever service you need done, leaving you screwed right before Christmas. Hopefully my insurance can do something for reimbursement. Due to the circumstances, this was my only option for emergency treatment. Also don’t know why X-rays needed to be taken here, as I had gotten some from my regular dentist on the same day (hours before I was referred here) that could have just been faxed over.Other than cost, my experience was good.

Had a root canal done January 30 2026 went so well thank you Eric Shapiro and your team for the great experience this is my second root canal and let me tell you the first experience I had at another dentist went horrible I felt the whole procedure with Eric and his team I was shocked I ain’t feel a thing thank you’ll so much I will recommend everyone here
